Something I’ve been trying to be more intentiona Something I’ve been trying to be more intentional about this month is savoring summer to the fullest potential! One way we do this in our household is by enjoying all of the delicious seasonal produce and eating our weight in summer fruits and veggies each day. Paul has a weak spot for road side fruit stands and since he passes several of them on his commute to/from work he has been bringing home more peaches than it seems like we can eat each week! Somehow we manage to finish them all and find ourselves wanting more. It won’t be long before the season ends so we’re stocking up on the sweetness while we still can.

I also made an intention this month to eat breakfast more regularly (*not just finishing off the leftover frozen pancakes from my kids’ plates!). One of my favorite easy go-to breakfast ideas is a yummy peach parfait that takes about 2 minutes to pull together and tastes like summer by the spoonful! You can actually substitute the peaches with any fruit you like - strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, and more! I wanted to share my version with you and tell you that I’m planning share more of our favorite seasonal family recipes here in the coming weeks so keep a look out for more deliciousness to come!

🍑 Peach Breakfast Parfait

• Plain or Vanilla Greek yogurt
• A handful of Granola
• A handful of candied pecans or slivered almonds
• Fresh peaches (or your fav summer fruit!)
• Drizzle of honey

Speaking of savoring summer… What’s YOUR favorite summer fruit? 🍓🍉🫐🍑🍒
Noah loves to help in the kitchen!! Yesterday I ta Noah loves to help in the kitchen!! Yesterday I taught him how to make iced lattes for our houseguests and he did AWESOME!! He made 4 of them and everyone raved about how delicious they were. He was so proud of himself for being able to help this way. It was a reminder for me to continue to invite my kids into the kitchen to do more things that I often don’t realize they are perfectly capable of doing!

**Disclaimer - he only had a tiny taste at the end but as standard measure we don’t let our kids drink caffeine at this age (no judgement if your family has different rules though!).

Last night on the beach for our summer season. Sch Last night on the beach for our summer season. School starts in a little over two weeks and we have been savoring all these sweet moments and stockpiling them so we can reminisce when the seasons shift. The boys swam and jumped in the waves this year more than ever before. Every summer we spend with them here is unique and beautiful. Their spirits are wild and free here and we see we find ourselves suspended between sea and shore, where time seems to simultaneously speed up and stand still in a delicate balance of powers.
Some days I feel like the never-ending piles of la Some days I feel like the never-ending piles of laundry in this household will be the death of me. Or at least the death of my (already limited) motivation towards this particular task of housekeeping. The persistent realization that it will neverrrrrr end absolutely haunts me. Unless we move to a nudist colony I suppose... but do those even exist any more? Ok, seriously though, that's probably not the life for me anyway. The first thing you need to understand about this situation is that this chore is totally self-designated. I am way too opinionated about HOW the laundry gets done to relinquish the task to others in this household. In my defense, I've had one too many favorite items of clothes ruined in attempted chore change-ups. If I want it done my way, I suppose I better just suck it up and do it myself, right?

No matter how much I try to stay ahead, I have yet to find the key to successfully managing the process. I've tried so many different approaches. Doing one load every day, minimizing the amount of laundry we have in our home. Trying to have a "laundry day" where I knock it all out at once in a single day. Setting timers and reminder notifications so I don't forget to swap wet clothes from washer to dryer before mildew sets in. I've tried involving the kids in the process - sorting, turning clothes right-side out, pairing socks, putting their own clothes away. No matter the strategies, it remains the most daunting and overwhelming task on my to-do list.

>> This month I’m putting laundry on my intentions list for all these reasons and then some. Head over to my blog to read more abt how I’m gonna try to tackle it and what other intentions I’m setting for August. (Link in my bio!) 🧺❤️

How do YOU make laundry less of a daunting task at your house? Pleaseeee give me all your tips and tricks! 🤪🙏🫠

Summer Nights The boys roamed barefoot and wild. Summer Nights

The boys roamed barefoot and wild. Their childish whims stretching before them like the last rays of the sun. Shrieks of laughter pierced the tranquil evening air, reminding us all that joy prevails even as darkness falls.

Dusk settled over the meadow, as though night was a summer blanket slowly and gently tucked toward our chins. Lightening bugs speckled our view like stars dipping low to kiss the earth.

As I took the boys inside to put them to bed, their pajamas smelled faintly of fresh grass and sweet freedom. Two tired faces gazed up at me, determined to defeat the sleep that tugged at their eyelids. I tucked them in tight with promises of the day ahead, kisses, and a prayer of gratitude – for their health, happiness, and for the opportunity to be their Mama.

Back outside, the fire crackled and spit embers into the air that danced and swirled about with delight until their flame simply ceased. We watch the ensemble, entranced. Conversation dripping lazily from our lips, sweet nothings of importance.

The days worn heavy on each of our shoulders. Dogs sprawled at our feet, bellies reflecting the moon, tongues lagging. The night air infused with hope and happiness once more.
